The Weekly Woof 🐾 - September 13, 2025

Hey there, Orange County dog lovers! It’s Tommy Stark, The Dog Director, bringing you this week’s Weekly Woof—your go-to scoop for all things pups in South OC! With the sun shining and tails wagging, let’s dive into today’s updates, packed with training tips, local adventures, and a dose of canine joy. Ready to make this week pawsome? Let’s go! 🌊🐶

🐕 THE Pack Walk of OC - Today at 5:30 PM!

Grab your leash and join me and Emily Haley for THE Pack Walk of OC today, September 13, 2025, at 5:30 PM at Laguna Niguel Regional Park! Meet us behind Whole Foods at La Paz Sports Park for a 3.5-mile stroll that’s all about socializing, exercising, and soaking up the OC sunset vibes. Whether your pup’s a social butterfly or still learning the ropes, this AKC FIT DOG club event is the perfect way to bond and make new friends. 🐾

Next Walk: Mark your calendars for October 18, 2025, at 5:30 PM—same spot, same fun! Check ocpackwalks.com for details and to stay in the loop.

🏫 Winter Training Series at Dee Dog Park

Get ready for my Winter Training Series kicking off at Dee Dog Park in San Juan Capistrano! These group classes are all about building confidence and mastering obedience in a fun, supportive setting. From puppy basics to advanced skills, I’ll tailor each session to help your dog shine. Spots are limited, so text me at (949) 343-0000 or email DogTrainerOC@gmail.com to reserve yours. Let’s make this winter a game-changer for you and your pup! 🐕‍🦺

🧠 Training Tip: Consistency is Key!

Want a well-behaved dog? Consistency is your secret weapon. Dogs thrive on clear expectations, so stick to the same cues, rules, and routines every day. But here’s the kicker: be mindful of what you’re rewarding. A reward isn’t just a treat—it can be attention, praise, or even letting your pup pull on the leash. If you accidentally reward unwanted behaviors (like jumping or barking) by giving attention, you’re telling your dog, “Keep it up!” Instead, ignore the bad stuff and shower praise on the good. For example, if your pup sits calmly, that’s your moment to reward with a treat or a cheerful “Good dog!” Stay consistent, and you’ll see progress faster than a Greyhound chasing a lure. 🏃‍♂️🐶

🏖️ Dog Spot of the Week: Dana Point Harbor

Looking for a pup-friendly adventure? Head to Dana Point Harbor this weekend! This coastal gem is perfect for a scenic walk with your dog, with wide paths, ocean breezes, and plenty of spots to sniff. Stop by the grassy areas near Baby Beach for some off-leash play (leash up when required!) or grab a coffee at one of the dog-friendly patios. It’s a tail-wagging good time, and the views are unbeatable. Pro tip: Bring a collapsible water bowl to keep your pup hydrated! 🌴🌊

📰 Positive Dog News: New Study on Canine Enrichment

Big news for dog nerds like me! A recent study from the University of Bristol (September 2025) shows that mental enrichment—like puzzle toys, scent games, and training—can reduce stress in dogs by up to 40%! The study found that just 15 minutes of daily brain games boosts your pup’s mood and strengthens your bond. Try hiding treats around the house or teaching a new trick this week to keep your dog’s mind sharp and their tail wagging. 🧩🐾

That’s it for this week’s Weekly Woof! Follow me on Instagram @ocdogtrainer and Facebook @dogtraineroc for daily tips and updates. Got questions or ready to train? Text me at (949) 343-0000 or shoot an email to DogTrainerOC@gmail.com. Let’s keep those tails wagging, South OC! 🐶🌅

Scheduling Private Lessons

I do NOT book ahead of the current week

I do my weekly schedule based on your locations/availability  - this reduces chances of getting into traffic delays between lessons plus maximizes the amount of dogs I can help on a daily basis.

Please give me more than one option when giving your availability if possible.  Makes organizing the calendar much easier.  You can also give priority times if you wish.

Sunday evening when I send out the events please confirm/accept the invite if you can.

Priority and Packages

This does not apply to new clients New clients do NOT pay before lessons if we have not met

Clients with packages will be scheduled first. Those without packages will fill in open spots on a location basis. If there is no space in the calendar for the week, I will add you to a waiting list for last minute cancellations.

Instructions

•The cut off is (Sunday) at 6pm IF you would like to train this week and list a few dates and times that work for you. I will respond to you by Sunday at 8 PM with your confirmed day and time via Google Event.  Once you receive the “Google Event” email please hit “accept” so that I know you have received it.
**Please allow for a potential delay of 10-15 mins arrival time based on traffic and lessons going longer - especially late in the day.
